My deepest sympathies to 2 families who have recently said goodbye to their Fireside Labradors.
Bailey was the best friend of Jessie in Wisconsin. Bailey's parents were Pete and Annie.
Isaac was owned and loved by the Hinkles in North Carolina. One of the saddest pictures I've ever seen, Isaac's "puppies" saying goodbye to him. Isaac's parents were Steamer and Maggie.
(Ch Campbellcroft Sparke O'Delby CDX JH x Drakemoor Lady in Chief JH) Feb 29, 1992 - Nov 25, 2006 Annie was my best friend for nearly 15 years. She helped me through some big changes in my life and taught me so much about dogs. Annie was SMART, sensible, funny, and a little opinionated... though usually her opinion was more right than mine. I trusted her judgement on people and dogs more than my own. She was an AWESOME mother and always adored the babies. One amazing story about Annie is that she nursed a litter of her great-grandchildren. Her granddaughter had had a hard delivery culminating in a section, and was pretty tired. Annie decided that she needed help, and she just got in the whelping box and started nursing pups, and darned if her milk didn't come in. Emma was glad for the assistance, and I figured Annie knew far more about raising puppies than I do, so I let her take charge. Another great story was the time in field training that the trainer shot at the bird and missed... so she went and retrieved it anyway, uninjured. She brought it to him with a look like, "Here, try again." Annie is at the Rainbow Bridge now, nursing babies to her hearts content. I miss you Nunu, but thank God you're out of pain.
(Ch Hollidaze Priority Mail x Montara Fireside Animation CDX WC TT CGC) Chippy was born with a cleft palate and unable to nurse. I kept him alive with hand feeding every 4 hours around the clock for 4 weeks, and then he stayed on with me until he was 4 months old. I knew he was a very special little boy who lived up to my faith in him. This photo was from the day Chippy and his owner Sheila earned his Obedience Trial Championship, the highest level of obedience title possible in AKC. In 2002 Chippy was the #1 Obedience Labrador in the US (First & Foremost system) with 353 points. Yet the most wonderful thing about watching Chippy and Sheila together was not their high scores and wonderful work, but the love and devotion between them, ever present on both their faces. Goodbye little Mouse.
